What is a Certificate of Competence?
A Certificate of Competence is a short course that recognises a specific range of knowledge and skills, culminating in a certificated qualification. In some cases an identification card is provided.
Certificates of Competence are qualifications that are easy to access and are practically assessed.
The training can be gained from industry experience (on the job training), or a short training course.
The qualifications are used to gain access to certain jobs, for individuals undertaking some work-based learning programmes or as stand-alone qualifications for those already in employment. In some sectors a Certificate of Competence acts as a “licence to practise”.

EXISTING CERTIFICATE HOLDERS RENEWAL OF CERTIFICATES AND ID CARDS
At the time of your assessment, you were certificated for either 3 or 5 years (depending on previous experience). Due to updated directives and new procedures, refresher courses are now required every three to five years to conform to these changes.
Cotswold Assessments offers refresher training courses via an online platform followed by a short assessment of multiple choice questions.
If successful in this online assessment your certificate will be renewed for another 5 years, (or 3 years if you hold a Provisional certificate.)
Please book your refresher training and the renewal of your certificate and ID card using the Cotswold Assessments Booking form (via the button below).
What does Cotswold Assessments do?
Cotswold Assessments Certificates of Competence are delivered Globally through approved assessors.
Training is essential before assessment and although attendance at a course of instruction is not a requirement to be able to apply for an assessment potential Candidates are strongly advised to ensure that they are up to the standards that will be expected of them when they are assessed.
Cotswold Assessments can provide a training course from an approved instructor; however, instruction is also available from other training providers associated with the transport of live animals by air.
Because assessors are independent the assessment will be to the same level and consistent high standard regardless of who the trainer was.
Certificates last for 3 years (if Provisional) or 5 years (if full certificates) when refresher training and reassessment will be required.
