What is a Certificate of Competence?

Certificates of Competence are qualifications that are easy to access and are practically assessed.

The training can be gained from industry experience (on the job training), or a short training course.

The qualifications are used to gain access to certain jobs, for individuals undertaking some work-based learning programmes or as stand-alone qualifications for those already in employment. In some sectors a Certificate of Competence acts as a “licence to practise”.
